Tips for Busan and Ulsan Trip

Hi guys! So today I will give you suggestion about some good places to go to Busan and Ulsan. I recommend you guys to go to Busan on first day by using KTX then go to Ulsan on the second day. These two places can be reached by KTX, so it will be comfortable.

Day 1. Busan

If you like spicy food and seafood I recommend you to eat in this place, named jobangnakji (조방낙지)

This is the map of the restaurant location http://goo.gl/wktXJs

The second place is called Jeolyoung Coastal Walk in Young-Do. This park, which is called Bridge Waterside Theme Park as well, is a walking distance from Nampodong. This is a waterside park for the residents near here. There is a one way alongside the sea where you can see and feel the Young-do sea. The walkway leads to the light house and Young-do Bridge. If you go there at noon, you can see the Young do Bridge being opened for 20 minutes to let big ships pass under the bridge

Address: Yongseondong 4-ga, Yongdo-gu, Busan ( http://goo.gl/Ui3d5y )

The third place is called Nampodong Street. This place hosts to the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF). To commemorate the BIFF every year the winners of the festival contribute copper plates imprinted with their hand and foot prints. These copper plates stretch far across the plaza walkways. The streets are especially crowded in October, when the films are being screened for the movie festival at local theaters. It is during this time that you can also find various events revolving around the promotion of the movies featured at the festival. In the vicinity of Nampo-dong Street you can find Jagalchi Fish Market and Choryang Arcade for Foreigners. This well sought after area is flourishing with not only theaters, but many kinds of shops and eateries as well.

If you see this escalator, you have to go up and see Yongdusan Park. Yongdusan Park, one of the most popular mountains in BusanYongdusan in downtown Busan, is one of the 3 well-known mountains in Busan. Its old name is Songhyunsan, which means a mountain has a view of the sea through the dense fine tree forest. Later the name has changed into Yongdusan. It came from its shape, which is similar to dragon head and people thought it has a spirit to defeat enemies coming over the sea.

Directions 1. Subway Busan station(On Busan Subway Line no. 1), get off at Nampo-dong Station. (5 min ride) Go out Exit 1 of Nampo-dong Station, walk 10 minutes.

Day 2. Ulsan

Jangsaengpo Whale Museum. The museum exhibits a vast assortment of materials and information related to whales. Of the 280-plus exhibit items, the grandest include the complete skeletal structure of a Bryde’s Whale, reaching a length of 12.4 meters and weighing in at 14.6 tons, along with whale baleens & jawbones, as well as the large vats used in the past to collect whale oil and the strong ropes used to hold the whales up.

From the museum, you can easily walk to the Jangsaengpo Whale Life Experience Museum. The experience museum holds the first aquarium in the nation to house dolphins. Meet a lively family of dolphins as they swim over and around you in the 11 meter-long underwater tunnel. To get an even closer look at the dolphins, be sure to visit during the feeding hour. Four times daily (11:00, 13:00, 15:00, 17:00, closed Mondays), the trainers enter the aquarium tank to feed the dolphins, offering a chance to see the dolphins show off their cute tricks. However, to protect the animals, the number of visitors for each feeding is limited to 100 people in a first-come, first-served basis, so it’s a good idea to hurry here if you don’t want to miss out.

The next location is called Seuldo Island. Seuldo Island is located at Bangeojinhang Port at the meeting of the East Sea and the river that runs past Ulsan. A mere dot on the map, the island’s name invokes the feeling of wind and waves. The entire island is covered in rocks dotted with holes, giving off an image of honeycomb so strong, you will expect to smell sweet honey in the air. Someone once said the island resembled sweet soboro bread, called ‘gombo-ppang’ in Korean, so the island is also known as ‘Gomboseom Island.’ The name Seuldo has a deep connection with the holes in the stones here. ‘Seul’ is the Hanja character for the traditional Korean stringed instrument geomungo; the sound of the water rushing in and out of the holes creates a sound not unlike the plucking of the strings on the geomungo. The people of Ulsan have a word for this exact sound, calling it “Seungdo-myeongpa,” meaning the ‘Sound of Geomungo Island’s Waves.’ The island is also one of Bangeojin’s 12 most beautiful sights. The island is connected to Bangeojinhang Harbor by a line of breakwaters, so it is easy to walk there. At one section the path continues over Seuldogyo Bridge instead of the breakwaters; stop here to watch the seawaters swirling back and forth with the tide. At the mid-point of the bridge, take photos with the 11 meter-tall whale statue. This whale statue was designed after the motif of a whale at Bangudae Petroglyphs, National Treasure No. 285 located further north along the Taehwagang River. It only takes about 10 minutes to walk along the breakwater to reach the entrance to Seuldo Island, but stopping to take photos and enjoy the people fishing off the bridge can easily increase the time up to one hour.

That's all about my recommendation place if you have plan to visit Busan and Ulsan. Happy travelling!
