This Chuseok Day ( Korean Thanksgiving Day ), me and my sister decided to go to take sea train in Jeongdongjin, Gangwondo. Because we have to take the sea train early in the morning, we decided to stay over night in Jeongdongjin area. On my post before, I gave you some tips of how to go to this area. However, after I arrive there, I realize that some buses do not come often.

There are actually two ways to get to Jeongdongjin area. First is by using Mugunghwa train (regular train) that will take you directly to Jeongdongjin, but it will take 5 hours to reach there. Second one is to take bus that will take around 3 hours, but it will stop in Gangreung and after that you need to take bus no 109 for one hour to Jeongdongjin. This bus come at 07:00, 08:00, 12:00, 16:00, 18:00, 20:00.

We arrive in Gangreung at one pm and because we do not want to waster our time, we decided to take taxi, which cost 20,000 won and it takes 30 minutes.

Now I will introduce you the place that we went!

1. Time Museum

990-1, Heonhwa-ro, Gangneung-si, Gangwon-do

Below is the direction of how to get here

* Take the train from Cheongnyangni Train Station towards Jeongdongjin (7 trains a day, travel time 4-5 hour) * Take the bus towards Gangneung from Dong Seoul Terminal (06:31 - 23:00, travel time 2hr 30min) * Take the city bus #111, #112, #113 from Gangneung Terminal

The guide in Time Museum said that this monument ( picture below ) is actually showing time.

This museum is really close to the Jeongdongjin beach. So along the way you also can enjoy the beautiful view of the beach. And don't forget to take picture of this Sun Cruise Resort & Yacht (썬크루즈)

2. Jeongdongjin Beach

The nice, sandy beach stretches over 250m and has three major swimming spots: in front of Jeongdongjin Railway Station, at Moraeshigae Park, and at the Jeongdongjin Seawalls. The spots near the railway station and at the park are more popular because they are spacious and easy to reach, with Moraeshigae Park having the added bonus of welcoming swimmers both day and night. The numerous rocks in front of Jeongdongjin Railway Station are home to shellfish, mussels, sea urchins and sea mustard.

Direction to get to this beautiful beach From Gangneung Intercity / Express Bus Terminal, take Bus No. 109. Get off at Jeongdong and walk 300m.

I saw a lot of people posting about this picture and I tried to follow them :)

The night view here is actually popular too! So don't forget to take pictures of the night scenery here!

3. Sea Train

The Sea Train is a tourist train, travelling along the Western sea, comprised of four divided cabins including two special rooms, one standard room, and one family room. The first and second cabin feature a special themed cabin, equipped with movie-watching system and seats facing the windows. The third car is for family members prepared with table seats, general subway-alike seats, and a cafeteria. The fourth cabin is for groups featuring three-seated and two-seated chairs. The Sea Train has plenty of things to see as it was decorated with a marine theme, including trick art images of clams, ocean creatures and shark as well as unfolded ocean views looking through the windows.

Unfortunately, it was raining when we went there. So it's a little bit foggy. But I still love the view from inside the train.

If you want to know how to take a sea train in Jeongdongjin, please refer to my previous post about tips to enjoy Chuseok Holiday

This is the interior of the sea train

On the way to the station, the staff there will give you a quiz, so you won't get boring. When I went there the quiz was who is the man in 100 Korean coin and when the coin was made. I tried to participate but I lose because other people were really fast in answering the question.haha

Below is the view of the sea. Isn't it beautiful?

Finally we arrive in Donghae Station. To go back to Jeongdongjin, we just use the normal train, because it's much cheaper:)

If you have free time to travel around Donghae, I think it will be great because Donghae has a great view. Unfortunately because we have to go back home soon, we cannot go around Donghae area:(

This is how the train looks like. Isn't it cute?

When you are in Jeongdongjin Station, don't forget to take picture with this tree above. This tree is really famous because it was a shooting place for an old drama.

4. Haslla Art World (하슬라아트월드)

Covering an area of 61 acres, Haslla Art World gets its name ‘Haslla’ from Gangneung of the Shilla Era. Formed by applying to its natural features, the Art Garden contains the Pine Tree Garden, Time Hall, Wetlands, Field Garden, Sea Garden and Fun Garden. At the Fun Garden located by the sea, artists and visitors can talk about artwork placed here, as well as gaze at the clear view of the sea. There is also a study room where children experience the making of artwork and observe nature, as well as try to make sotdae (a Korean folk item, a pole, which is set up for prayer or celebration). A full tour takes about an hour and 30 minutes to two hours and 30 minutes.

To go here, you can simply take taxi from Jeongdongjin Station and it will cost you around 5,000won. The admission fee to enter this museum is 8,000won.

Because it was rainy that day, we decided just to have a look around inside museum.

Inside this gallery, there is this one exciting tunnel. When you go inside the beautiful lights will start to come out.

My sister trying to take out the umbrella from plastic bag :)

When we went here, there was a Pinochio exhibition. There were Pinochio collection from all over the world and some Pinochio can move too if we press button near it. It was an interesting exhibition. If I'm not mistaken, this exhibition will be until the end of October.

That's about my review of my last Chuseok Trip. Hope it help you guys and happy travelling:)
