Today I will introduce to you one of the winter festivals in Korea. This festival is called Chilgapsan Ice Fountain Festival. I went here last year with my sister. We thought that this place would feel really cold, but it's not that cold actually!

Chilgapsan Mountain was called the Alps of Chungcheongnam-do. Nestled at the foot of the peak of Chilgapsan Mountain, Cheonjang-ri Alps Village is located at a high degree as its name ‘Cheonjang’ (천장; ceiling) suggests.

Various festivals like Ice Fountain Festival, International Calabash Festival, and Chilgapsan Mountain Bean Festival are also held in this village. Ice Fountain Festival is held in the area of the Alps Villages in Cheongyang-gun, Chungcheongnam-do from December to February with seven different themes. Every corner of the venue has ice fountains, and snow sculptures that add an even more winter ambience to the festival. Snow sledding, ice sledding and bobsleigh are available for all visitors to ride. In addition, there are some traditional activities such as rice-planting machine sledding, eating roasted chestnut picked from Chilgapsan Mountain, and many others where visitors can be experience and enjoy the taste of the rural feelings.

Address: 175-11, Cheonjangho-gil, Cheongyang-gun, Chungcheongnam-do

Below are the list of programs I got from KTO website

Admission/Participation Fees

Adults 5,000 won / Children 3,000 won

Performance Times

Daytime: 09:00-17:00 / Nighttime: 18:00-22:00

Because in Indonesia we don't have winter season, going to this place is actually a good experience for both of us

In this place, you also can catch smelt fish and fry it there. The lady over there will fry it for you and you just need to give her money for that.

This fish is really delicious! After you look around the ice festival, make sure to taste this fish before you go home!

Hope you enjoy the winter festival and stay warm!
